Have a splash without getting pressed against the wall with these shower extension and arms that turn your regular shower routine into a home spa experience
Often an afterthought, the shower area is the real sanctuary in our homes. After all, it’s the only place where we can be alone after a long day. That’s why every detail matters.
So we took it upon ourselves to go and get the top-rated best shower head extensions on the market today and test them all out for weeks.
In this definitive review, we will be covering:
- The best shower head extensions for every need;
- Shower extensions for every budget;
- All their pros and cons;
- What you should look out for when buying one;
- Lots more!
We’re also looking for a shower extension arm to grace our shower areas, so expect a meticulous test and review!
And let’s just say I’ve just found my new shower head extension during the testing for this review!
So let’s not keep you waiting.
Let’s have a splash!
According to the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, people who shower-bathe regularly are healthier physically, mentally, socially, and even emotionally with fewer signs of stress, fatigue, skin problems, anxiety, and anger.
If you’re still on the fence about getting your standard shower head a new arm extension, then know that it’s more than just a luxury.
Aside from being a great instrument for comforting hydrotherapy…
…it’s also great if you have older people at home whose moves are limited. Having an extension allows you to customize the position of the shower head so they won’t have to move and adjust too much.
It’s also a favorite fixture among families with disabled members. A good adjustable shower extension arm can be raised or lowered anytime according to its user’s needs.
That also means fewer chances of bathroom accidents not only for the disabled but for your kids at home!
If you’re renovating an old shower area…
…just think of how expensive it would be to move an existing shower pipe just to go with your height.
And anyway, not everyone at home would have the same height, so installing adjustable shower arms would be more beneficial than you think.
And not just that.
People who are forever moving places also like to get their own dependable shower arm extension that can be easily installed and removed with barely any hassle.
But then, it’s so easy to mess things up when dealing with bathroom fixtures and pipes, and that’s what makes buying a showerhead extension quite tricky.
And that’s why we scoured the market to get the best shower head extension for different needs. Read on to see what works for you!

The Best Shower Head Extensions – 2023 Reviews
1. Best Highly Adjustable Shower Head Extension – Nearmoon Adjustable Shower Arm (Editor’s Choice Award)
Shape | S-shaped, high-rise |
Size | 13 inches |
Material | Stainless steel |
Installation | Wall mount |
Manufacturer | NearMoon |
Bottom Line | Good looks and functionality in one unit, this curved showerhead extension from Nearmoon works great for tall individuals who need more allowance with their showerhead. It extends vertically and horizontally, too. |
- Rust- and corrosion-resistant material
- Durable
- Easy to clean
- The high-rise design rises your showerhead and extends it onto the center of your bathroom
- Can fit most US plumbing connections
- A bit heavy
- Not ideal for very cramped spaces
SUMMARY:
This matte black curved showerhead extension by Nearmoon may look gorgeous, but as we soon found out, it turned out to be more than just good looks.
Its beauty and functionality in one unit, along with very well-crafted material, make it this review’s Editor’s Choice…or in other words, the roundup’s top-notcher!
Coming in packed nicely with several layers of protection, this S-shaped extension came with no scratches or damage.
And speaking of scratches, this extension has an elegant matte finish which is not only beautiful but also quite scratch-proof.
Just let me tell you that it has some weight to it, in case you’re wondering.
And it has its reasons.
It’s made from stainless steel, a material that isn’t very heavy on its own. But then, this pipe is made to be really thick, even much thicker than most showerhead extensions we’ve had, and that most probably added more weight to it.
And let me tell you…
…we weren’t disappointed. Its walls are thick and made up of several layers, too! That automatically means that it isn’t flimsy at all nor is it easily dented.
Because it’s made from stainless steel, that also means that it’s rust- and corrosion-resistant as this material doesn’t ever rust at all.
But what’s better…
…is Nearmoon didn’t settle for that! It’s also made with multi-layer plating, giving it more rust-resistant properties.
Aside from that, it has also undergone a spray salt test that confirmed that it’s ready to be delivered to your door and stay rust-free in your bathroom in the years to come.
As for the installation…
…it wasn’t complicated and can be accomplished even by a beginner in under ten minutes.
But the thing is, we found out that it needed more Teflon tape than we’re used to.
Now, the good news is it came with a whole roll of Teflon tape and it was just enough to cover the installation.
Just make sure to put the flange in it first before putting the Teflon tape. Then use about seven to eight layers of it around the threading.
After that, we didn’t see any problems as our showerhead ran without leaking.
And that’s not all.
It’s S-shaped with some corners and it extends both horizontally and vertically for you!
So if you’re a tall person who’s fed up of bowing your head and adjusting just to get some water from your showerhead, then this is your best bet.
It raises the showerhead for 8 inches and as if it’s not enough, will also extend it 7 inches horizontally so it’s on the center of your shower area instead of by the wall.
That being said…
…because it extends that much, it’s not very ideal if your shower space is very small as your showerhead could only end up being extended to the other side of the wall.
But overall, it checked almost all the boxes for us with its improved and reinforced material and build that makes its elegant design just a bonus!

2. Best Angle-Adjustable Shower Head Extension – Hotel Spa 11″ Solid Brass Adjustable Shower Extension (Best Value Award)
Shape | Round |
Size | 2 x 2 x 12 inches |
Material | Brass |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | Interlink |
Bottom Line | A shower head extension arm that’s handy for people who are too short or too tall for their showerheads. It can be moved 2 feet up and down. |
- Adjustable shower arm for any height
- Can fit any showerhead
- Shower arm extension can support even heavy showerheads\
- Vertical movement range spanning 2 feet
- Tools-free installation
- With extra-thick washer that prevents any leaks
- You need to seal the threads with a tape or else it will leak
- Can’t be moved left and right
- Doesn’t come with a showerhead
SUMMARY:
If you’re done feeling awkward in the shower because of your height, then it’s time for a proper adjustable shower arm.
And if you’re looking for a no-nonsense option without all the unnecessary bells and whistles, you’d like our Best Value choice Hotel Spa 11” Solid Brass Shower Extension, which we got at a very agreeable price!
This adjustable shower arm extension from Interlink is as straightforward as it can be with nothing but extension and adjusters that are all you need.
Its body is made from brass, nothing special, but it did feel solid in my hands while being lightweight. That makes it great for the ladies and the elderly because that means it’s much easier to lift and install.
But it doesn’t look like brass. It’s finished with chrome, so just like our Editor’s Choice, it also has that premium feel to it, like in a spa or a hotel’s shower.
Aside from that…
…it’s also rust- and corrosion-proof, thanks to its finish.
As for installation, if you think the Editor’s Choice is already a breeze, then try this one.
I was able to get it up and working in less than 5 minutes. If you’re not much of a handyman, then it’d be around 10 minutes or less. It’s a tool-free installation, so you won’t even have to go out for tools.
But there’s one thing you’ll surely need, though.
And it’s a plumber’s tape or a Teflon tape.
Let me warn you: this shower head extension arm won’t be compatible with all the shower outlets in the world. Some would be too big and some too small. But you’ll need a trusty tape for sure.
The thing with this extension arm is its arm isn’t very independent from the rest of the unit. It’s actually fixed to the lock nut.
So when you install the extension arm and have to screw and turn to tighten it, you’ll have to twist the whole thing, too.
And not just that, but there’s a fat chance that it’ll stop at a very awkward angle, usually a 45-degree angle to the ceiling.
It actually ended up facing the wall in my shower.
Now, you might be thinking…
…so I can’t loosen it up because it will then leak, and I can’t also overtighten. So doesn’t that make it useless?
While that could be a setback, I was able to work around it with tape. This way, you can loosen it up, and it will still not leak.
And it’s worth all the taping because it hasn’t leaked since then!
On the other hand…
…my favorite thing about this shower head extension arm is it can move vertically (up and down) with a range of 2 feet, which is quite generous already. So everyone at home, including the kids, a 6’2 man and a 5” woman, can shower underneath it with complete ease.
It can also support even our heavy showerheads, so that came as a great relief as well.
For its uses and benefits, I can say that it’s quite well worth the money.

3. Best Quality Shower Head Extension – 17 inch (45CM) Shower Head Arm Extension with Flange High Arc Long Extender Pipe Shower Arm Water Outlet (Top Pick Award)
Shape | Gooseneck |
Size | 17 |
Material | Stainless steel |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | YJROOMS |
Bottom Line | A widely-curved shower extension that can accommodate big and heavy showerheads. |
- Can fit big and wide showerheads
- Great adjustability
- It can also support heavy showerheads
- Rust- and corrosion-resistant
- Easy and tools-free installation
- 4 varieties/finishes to choose from
- It tends to reduce the flow rate a bit
- Heavy and bulky
SUMMARY:
If you’re starting to feel hopeless about your monster of a showerhead that can barely fit any extension thanks to its size and weight, then this gorgeous extension might be the answer to your search!
This 17-inch showerhead extension from YJROOMS is as functional as it’s pretty to look at.
With a curve that’s bigger and wider than most gooseneck extensions, this extension’s design allows for bigger showerheads to fit in it, a problem most homeowners with big, modern showerheads face.
Now, you can put your 12”, 15”, or even 16” showerheads up without any problem! It doesn’t only accommodate heads on this side but it can also hold the heavy ones without any problem.
Just make sure that you’re installing it meticulously and carefully.
And speaking of which…
…installation was a breeze which took me just under ten minutes. It also didn’t require me to use any tools.
After installation, I wiggled it and shook it around, just gauging its ability to hold my 16” square shower head with LED.
I suggest you do the same to make sure that it won’t suddenly shake and even drop your showerhead once it’s up.
And of course, make sure everything’s properly tightened and installed.
And once it’s up…
…my monster of an LED showerhead was hanging beautifully in the very center of my shower area.
Its length and drop is also just right for an average-sized bathroom. Now, if your shower area is much bigger than the average, you can also use another shorter extension arm along with this.
But with its design, I can say that there are just a few shower extensions that have big and heavy showerheads like this.
Not to mention…
…it’s also rust- and corrosion-proof, thanks to its durable stainless steel material. Aside from that, its surface was also reinforced with a multi-layer electroplating process, which resulted in its fade-proof quality.
Suffice to say, if what you’re looking for is something that will last for years, this is your best bet.
This design is also perfect if you’re constantly moving places, as this extension’s metal surface can take quite a beating, and still, it won’t look old that easily.
And most importantly…
…my favorite quality of this gracefully curved showerhead is its perfect adjustability. The showerhead was still very easy to move around without any hint of loosening up.
Thanks to this, this gooseneck showerhead scored a perfect ten in adjustability, also becoming this review’s Top Pick!

4. Best Versatile Design Shower Head Extension – Moen 151380BG Collection 16-Inch Replacement Overhead Shower Arm Extension
Shape | L-shaped |
Size | 16 inches |
Material | Stainless steel |
Installation | Wall mount |
Manufacturer | Moen |
Bottom Line | An elegantly designed L-shaped showerhead extension that can handle very heavy showerheads without budging. |
- Extra-long at 16 inches
- Elegant design
- Available in 6 finishes to complement your shower area design
- Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty
- It doesn’t come with a flange
- A bit heavier than other extensions
SUMMARY:
Going for that luxurious look? Then this strong and beautiful golden Moen stunner might be the one you’re looking for.
Perfect for gold-accented bathrooms and showers, this Moen 16-inch showerhead extension comes in six different finishes so there’s surely one for your ideal aesthetic.
It didn’t only come in a box but it’s also wrapped in cloth so it didn’t have any scratches or damage from transit.
The first thing we noticed was that it was quite heavy.
In case you’re wondering, it’s not exceptionally thick, it’s rather average when it comes to thickness. But it’s much heavier than most extensions that I’ve tested.
It’s in a somewhat L shape with a total length of 16 inches.
This golden stunner extends about 13 inches horizontally, which is great if you’re aiming to bring your showerhead away from the wall and into the center of your shower area.
Now, the thing is…
…the declared 16 inches size might be a stretch. If you’re looking for something that will extend your showerhead 16 inches out, then this is not it, though it’s not quite far off.
Turns out, the 16 inches size starts from the threaded end to the other dropped end. The drop is about 2 inches long.
That being said, the drop is also quite short. So if you want to drop it longer, you can just purchase another linear extension to attach to it.
The size aside…
…it’s exceptionally strong. I actually used one of my heftiest showerheads at home to test this out and I honestly thought it was going to bend or sag.
But surprise, surprise!
The golden beauty held up really well. I even tapped it to see if it would sag or move but it stayed tough as heck, totally unmoving. I think that’s enough to make up for its short drop.
Another thing that quite frustrated me was the absence of a flange. Most shower extensions usually come with a flange so I assumed I was all ready for installation, only to find out that I still needed to go out and buy a flange.
So that’s one thing for you to take note of and remember.
Overall, it’s been three months now and it still hasn’t rusted or even collected stains. Its finish also makes it very easy to clean.
Just remember to make an allowance for headspace upon installation and also get yourself some Teflon tape.
The extension’s details also state that it’s specially made for Moen showerheads but it actually fits most showerheads on the market.

5. Best Stylish Shower Head Extension Arms – Shower Head Extension Arm with Flange, “S” Shaped Shower Head Riser Extension Arm
Shape | Curved/ S-shape |
Size | 10 inches |
Material | Metal |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | Tapix |
Bottom Line | A minimalistic curved S-shaped showerhead riser that’s perfect for tall people. |
- Its high rise design raises your showerhead about 10 inches higher
- Great for tall people
- Stylish curved design
- Polished chrome finish in metal that’s durable and rust-proof
- The product also comes with a flange for a clean, polished look
- Very easy to install
- Doesn’t come with a manual
- Not recommendable for shower stalls with low ceiling
SUMMARY:
If you’re looking for a more minimalist take on your bathroom fixtures, or if you’re over six feet tall and have to duck down every single day just to have a proper shower, then this showerhead riser is your best bet.
This elegantly curved S-shaped shower extension arm is made of metal and has some satisfying weight in it.
And as if that’s not enough, it’s also finished with polished chrome so it’s all shiny and glistening, adding a muted sophistication to a simple shower area.
But take note of this:
The product description on its page may say that its thread is American standard. But in reality, it’s an IPS or iron pipe straight, so you might need another connection or even some modifications for it.
Now, don’t worry though, because it did fit my existing pipe and it also did for most users. You may just have to compare and study your pipe first before getting one of these.
Unlike most showerhead extensions on our list, this one would require you to prepare a few tools for installation such as pliers, wrench, cloth, and seal tape.
The pliers or wrench are for screwing everything in, as it could be either too fragile to be hand-tightened or to be touched by your hands.
But before that…
…make sure to wrap the extension in a cloth first so as not to scratch it as you twist with your tool.
I made sure to use the Teflon tape that came free in the package, wrapping it on both ends’ threads…
Pro tip: Wrap the tape clockwise as you’ll also be screwing the unit toward the same direction. Otherwise, your tape might unthread and even cause cross-threading.
I like that I was sent a whole roll of tape and I even had some left after installing the shower extension!
On the other hand…
…with the additional 10 inches of height that it lends to your showerhead, it’s ideal for tall people.
That being said, that makes it limited when it comes to orientation because you can only use it to raise your showerhead. Now, if you aim to lower your showerhead while still using this, I say you can still do that,
What I did was buy another connection that points downward and use it to connect this shower extension arm and the showerhead.
Problem solved!
Just make sure to have around 20 to 30 inches of clearance on your ceiling to give more space when twisting this extension.

6. Best Flexible Shower Head Extension Arms – Aqua Elegante Shower Arm
Shape | linear |
Size | 10 inches |
Material | Brass |
Installation | Wall-mount |
Manufacturer | Aqua Elegante |
Bottom Line | A versatile showerhead arm extension that’s 10 inches long and allows you to personalize your showerhead’s height and even its distance from the wall. |
- All-metal build
- The elbow can be rotated both vertically and horizontally
- Long shower extension arm
- It screws in durably and can support heavy showerheads
- It also features an easy-to-tighten handle grips
- Heat-, pressure-, corrosion-, and rust-proof material
- It’s also acid- and mineral-resistant
- Doesn’t disrupt your existing water pressure
- Tool-free installation
- Excellent customer service
- Doesn’t come with a manual or directions
- The screw nuts tend to be tight and rigid
SUMMARY:
Looking to customize your whole rain shower setup?
And I mean fully customize.
Then I’d say this shower extension arm is for you! That is if you’re looking for one sans the showerhead because this is only the extender.
This unit had been a thrill to use as I was able to angle and adjust more ways than I’ve ever thought of.
But first, let’s start with its delivery.
Aside from being packed and wrapped nicely and safely, the company also promptly emailed me letting me know that they’re ready and willing to assist me upon installation of the extension and even after-sale services.
True enough, I replied to them to test it out.
Actually, I really had to, as it didn’t come with a manual or instructions. Now, I’ve been installing stuff around the house for years so I knew what to do. But I emailed them anyway just to see how good their customer care is.
And I wasn’t disappointed. They guided me along the way until I informed them that it’s been successfully installed!
Just wow!
But this is just the peak of the iceberg.
What’s more, is this shower extension arm is made from brass so expect it to be kind of heavy. But hey, for me, heaviness almost always equals good quality and durability.
Moreover, unlike other shower fixtures, this one is not only rust- and corrosion-resistant but also resistant to mineral, acid, grit, heat, and even salt so you need not worry about the type of water you have.
That also means that if you’re looking for something long-term (like decades), this might be your best bet.
As for the installation…
…it was quite easy for me, though it might get a bit tricky if this is your first time.
This extension arm should simply screw to the existing pipe on your shower then add the showerhead and you’re ready to go.
But it gets tricky with the threads.
The thing is, you’ll have to twist the whole thing to be able to screw it on tightly and safely and it could end up in an awkward angle, like the showerhead facing the wall.
Thankfully…
…they’ve included a Teflon tape in the package and it’s not only of good quality but it’s more than enough, too!
What I did was put three layers of the tape and then screw the extension in. Easy-peasy and done in less than five minutes.
Now, here comes the fun part.
It has two screw nuts on either end for ultimate adjustability and this is the edge of this shower extension arm.
The first screw lock nut is for angling it and adjusting its height and distance from the wall.
Too tall? Just raise it up above your head, no problem even if you’re over six feet tall.
A bit short? It also allows you to bring it lower so it’s easy to reach and control.
Want to have a rain shower galore at the center of the shower area? You can also adjust its distance from the wall however you like.
In addition to that…
…it doesn’t change whatever water pressure you have at home but if your pressure is naturally weak, extending the extension arm and positioning it higher helps most of the time.
And speaking of water pressure, aside from being resistant to almost all harmful elements there is, this brass extension arm also has less surface friction so it doesn’t disrupt your current water pressure.
And that’s not all!
It can also be used for both high and low temperatures so you won’t have to change fixtures for the summer and winter.
Isn’t that practical?
Its screw nuts held up amazingly as well that they’re still nice and tight even after months of use.
Now, that’s also its downside.
The lock nuts also tend to be quite tight and rigid, so some users have difficulty adjusting them.
But hey, it didn’t sag even after being adjusted about five times a day, so who am I to complain?
That is if you remember its limit, which is 3 pounds. Yes, it can support showerheads that are up to 3 pounds in weight.
And my favorite thing about this?
Not only can you use this with a fixed showerhead but also with a handheld one!
If you want more customizability, you can get two of these and line them up to have the perfect hotel-spa rain shower experience!

7. Best Extra Long Shower Head Extension Arm – Coeur Designs 11-Inch Shower Extension Arm. Solid Brass
Shape | linear |
Size | 11 inches |
Material | Brass |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | Coeur Designs |
Bottom Line | 11 inches of fully-adjustable shower arm extension with two wing nut locks and a well-engineered collar nut so you can adjust and lock it in place without any awkwardness. |
- Universal ½ NPT fits most showerheads
- Long extended arm
- Lock gear joints on either side for maximum customizability
- Wide and comfortable wing nuts
- All-metal construction
- Polished chrome finish
- Collar nut for easy attachment
- The gear and thread are heavy-duty
- Excellent customer care
- Backed by lifetime warranty
- Water pressure is a bit restricted
- You may find that it’s a bit heavy
SUMMARY:
This American-made Coeur Designs showerhead extension arm looks pretty much like most of the outstanding shower extension arms in this review. But what got us is its easy adjustability, small but excellent details, and easy installation.
It comes in two sizes, 11 inches, and 16 inches, and I got the former. It came in a rather flimsy plain box, so I was initially anxious about its quality.
But lo and behold. Inside, it’s safely packed and complete with instructions that were very easy to understand, even for complete beginners.
Moreover…
…it also contained a card from the maker with the name Sean Cherry. It told me to contact him if any problem arises.
Glad I didn’t need to, but I’ve also heard many other users being replied to by Sean within less than an hour after their message was sent, and I’d say that’s top-notch customer care!
But then, I’ve also heard about this unit leaking. Actually, if you follow the instructions carefully, it won’t.
This arm extension came with an ample amount of Teflon tape and washers, which is very convenient as you won’t have to go to the hardware store to find these little guys anymore.
Now, it’s quite strange…
…but the instructions told me to put around 10 to 15 wraps of Teflon tape around the lower thread upon installation.
But actually, I don’t think I needed that much tape anyway. The great thing about this unit is it has two wing nuts on either side, so you can install it into your existing pipe, as well as the showerhead, without having to twist the whole thing.
You just have to turn the wing nuts, and you’re good to go!
But I used the tape anyway as well as the washer.
What’s cooler…
…it has this great little detail that other shower arm extensions don’t have, and it’s the spinning collar nut. It connects the existing pipe on your wall and the extension arm, and you twist it to lock the two together without having to twist the whole bar.
Isn’t that great?
Moreover, my showerhead extension didn’t have to end up in an awkward position and angle anymore!
Now, take this:
If I could give you a bit of advice regarding installing this little guy, it’s to screw the showerhead in first before screwing the whole thing into the wall pipe. It’s strong, but it was shaky when I made the mistake of attaching it to the wall first before putting the showerhead in.
The result was satisfying. It’s amazingly strong and can hold my 3-pound showerhead without any issues. It didn’t even move an inch!
I give credit to the collar nut and the very tight and stable wingnuts.
One thing you may also want to remember is not to over tighten it when hand tightening as it can cause the washer on the lower thread to break, causing leakage.
Once you get past the installation, it’ll get better.
Another thing…
…it’s advertised as 11 inches, but the bar is actually just 9 inches if you exclude the wingnuts and the collar nut.
That being said, once up, it will give you nine full inches of allowance so you can lower or raise it according to the user’s height!
If anything, I’ve just noticed that it kind of restricted my usually heavy water pressure, and it’s a bit heavy on the hands as well.
Due to this, it’s best paired with a good high-pressure shower head that’s specially designed for homes with low pressure.

8. Best Easy To Use Shower Head Extension Arms – The E-Z REACH Solid Metal Shower Arm Extension
Shape | linear |
Size | 6 inches |
Material | Metal |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | High Sierra Showerheads |
Bottom Line | A very simple showerhead extension with a non-threaded end to seamlessly blend in with your existing shower pipe. It also has a classy glossy chrome finish. |
- It features a non-threaded end to hide the male threads
- Easy installation and doesn’t need any Teflon tape
- Designed to seamlessly integrate with other bathroom fixtures
- Smooth satin chrome finish
- Available in three finishes to choose from
- Durable
- A bit heavy
- It has a metal water flow restrictor
- A bit expensive for its size
SUMMARY:
Fewer details mean fewer mistakes. And sometimes, this is all we need, especially with our bathroom fixtures where things usually get tricky.
That being said, this shower extension bar from High Sierra is the epitome of simplicity that’s not only straightforward but also impressively effective.
First off…
…it came in excellent packaging and condition. Not only does it come in two boxes, but it’s also wrapped in a bubble wrap, so it’s thrice the protection!
This unit was a bit heavy when I lifted it, and no wonder because it’s entirely made of metal.
On the other hand, I’m not really very sure about its resistance to rust and corrosion because it’s not stainless steel or brass.
But this I know…
…it’s finished in glossy satin chrome, so it’s giving off a classy, expensive vibe.
Actually, it was expensive indeed. If you consider its size and design, that is.
It’s so shiny and satiny that one of my guests even described it as “almost a work of art.” And it’s just a single bar of metal, take note!
Now that we’re on the topic of its looks, let me also mention that aside from chrome, it’s also available in two more finishes (a total of three) for you to choose from.
It’s available in the nickel finish for a simpler look and oil-rubbed bronze to fit your dark bathroom color scheme.
And speaking of fitting in…
…it also has this unique little feature that is the non-threaded end that’s engineered to hide the male thread protruding from your wall like a sore thumb!
I guess it’s all about the aesthetics.
As a result, this shower extender blended in so beautifully with my existing bathroom fixtures as if it’s been there for years instead of being freshly installed!
As for the installation, the manufacturers claimed that you don’t need any Teflon tapes for this thing to get attached. It’s mostly true but I think it still depends on the user and situation.
That being said…
…it’s very simple to install I can finish it within five minutes if not for the water flow restrictor.
Unlike other showerhead extension arms, its water pressure restrictor inside isn’t made of rubber but metal.
Yep, you’ve read that right.
That means that it won’t get fixed with just a simple pull of pliers. In my case, I had to drill it first and use a mallet to remove the restrictor. After that, the water pressure was back to my normal moderate to a heavy one.
On the other hand…
…do remember that removing the restrictor is not a must, especially if you already have heavy water pressure at home. It’s there for a reason, after all, and that reason could just be the safety of your home water pressure.
I hand-tightened the first thread, and I used a wrench for the other end. When using tools, make sure to be careful not to scratch them against the surface of the fixture. In my case, I sometimes use a cloth to cover it.
If you’re not using Teflon tape, make sure to screw them on tightly to avoid leaks.
Now comes a bit of an inconvenience, though.
Just like most showerhead extensions, this one also has a little flow restrictor inside. Usually, you can just pull it out with a pair of pliers.
But with this extension, I had to use a driller and a mallet because the restrictor is made of metal.
I also paired it up with a good shower head that’s designed to combat low water pressure, just to be sure.
It took more time than expected, but everything went well anyway, and I ended up having more than enough water pressure.
This baby is 6 inches long but can add or reduce only 4.5 inches of height if it’s angled from the wall.

9. Best Quality Shower Head Extension Arms – Purelux Shower Extension Extra Long Stainless Steel Shower Arm
Shape | 90 degrees L-shape |
Size | 16 inches |
Material | Stainless steel with brushed nickel finish |
Installation | Wall-mounted |
Manufacturer | Purelux |
Bottom Line | An elegantly-curved 90-degree shower arm extension that lets you enjoy a blissful waterfall experience right in the very center of your shower area instead of hugging the wall. It can also support heavy showerheads without sagging. |

SUMMARY:
Tired of hugging the cold wall every time you shower?
If you’re looking for the perfect curved shower extension arm that will take your rain shower in the center of your bathing area and can last for years, this extension arm from the humble but impressive brand is your best bet.
First off, let me just say how thoughtful the packaging was.
Aside from being wrapped and packed securely, it also included a nice “Thank you” note from the manufacturer. You can tell that it’s made by a very hands-on company.
And that’s not all.
Aside from the extension neck itself, it also includes a shiny, high-end-looking gasket, a rubber washer, and a whole roll of Teflon tape.
Take note: most bathroom fixtures either send just a few inches of tape or none at all. But this Purelux extension sent me a whole roll.
Another great thing about this is it’s made from stainless steel- the first stainless shower extension arm that I’ve encountered while buying all these extensions to review.
Because of that, it’s rust- and corrosion-resistant and supposed to last for years without looking worn out.
Another thing…
…it also means that it’s resistant to most kinds of acid and minerals. No wonder it didn’t change when it got in contact with our hard water at home.
Installation was a real breeze. I had everything I needed to begin with.
All I had to do was screw this baby on my existing shower pipe together with the flange and some layers of tape, and we’re good to go.
I also like how the flange came with a proper washer or grommet to keep it in place. This cap is a small detail but an important one as it added a polished, elegant look to the overall setup.
But be warned:
Do remember to add a few inches of clearance between the showerhead and your own head as this thing isn’t adjustable, and you could hit your head against it if you’re too tall.
Now, it’s another thing if your pipe is installed lower than necessary.
That’s where the downside to this extension arm comes in. Because it’s bent into a 90-degree angle, there’s not much room for adjustments. Or, if you want to use this and still have a higher showerhead, then you might have to buy another extension to do so.
It’s because the main goal of this particular extension is to extend your showerhead away from the wall and into the center of your shower area.
You can also expect your shower head to face straight down as, again, there’s not much chance for adjustments.
On the flip side…
…once you get past these issues, you’ll benefit from this extension’s strength and durability.
As a matter of fact, I’ve just found out that it can support showerheads that weigh 3 to 6 pounds!
Imagine that.
My old showerhead was weighing 6 pounds, and it held up impressively without sagging or even merely shaking at all. That being said, this extension itself turned out to be heavier than I expected, considering the fact that it’s made of stainless steel.
In addition to that…
…it may just be its downward angle, but it didn’t restrict my already nice water pressure at all.
So if what you’re aiming for is a nice rain shower experience that comes straight above your head, this Purelux extension neck fits the bill perfectly.

SUMMARY:
If your showerhead is already high enough, then skip this one.
But if you’re looking to give more height to your showerhead and at the same time bring it to the center of the shower floor, then this HANEBATH shower extension arm fits the bill perfectly.
Yes, you’ve read that right.
It can do more than raise your showerhead, thanks to its curved S- shape.
Also, a stainless steel shower extender, this baby doesn’t rust and corrode. It has this brushed nickel finish which is perfect if you’re not into the more fancy glossy finish that chrome offers.
But aside from that, if you’re particular about your bathroom’s aesthetics, you’d be glad to know that it’s available in many other finishes such as shiny chrome, luxurious gold, unique matte black, and elegant oil-rubbed bronze.
I got the brushed nickel and oil-rubbed bronze, and if things go well, I’ll surely get the gold one, too.
Just a note on its finish:
While the brushed nickel finish was alright and looked perfectly normal, oil-rubbed bronze looked more like copper. Now, I know that different brands have their own versions of bronze, but this one looked the most off.
Nevertheless, it’s still nice that they gave us more finish choices, especially if you consider the fact that there are not many S-shaped shower arms to be found on the market today.
Yep, it’s quite uncommon.
As for the installation…
…if you’ve been researching before buying, you’d most probably know that most users of this shower arm had a hard time getting this guy up.
Thanks to its unique shape, installation may prove to be tricky at times.
Luckily for me, I’ve handled things like this before, so it was a piece of cake for me.
This shower arm came with a nicely-shaped flange and silicone gasket that definitely helped with leaks as well as covered an ugly hole my pipe made in the wall.
Before screwing this bar up, make sure to wrap at least 5 to 6 layers of Teflon tape on both sides to aid with the screwing.
And not just that…
…one of the most important things to remember is you have to have more than enough wall clearance as you’ll have to twist the whole thing. Its S-shape requires more space, or else, both your wall and shower arm might get scratched.
And speaking of twisting, I won’t recommend hand-tightening it, especially if you’re a beginner.
One flaw I’ve noticed in this unique shower extender is that its tube is quite thin, that it’s possible to break if handled heavily.
That being said…
…if you look close enough, you’ll find a surface with a notch for your wrench. That’s the manufacturer telling you to use a wrench instead.
Moreover, I’ve also found out that this isn’t made of one piece but multiple pieces joined together. You’ll also see that if you look close enough.
That means more opportunities for leaking. So far, mine hasn’t leaked yet, but a whole single piece is always better than multiple ones.
On the other hand…
…overall, it’s just impressive how it has enough room for the largest of my showerheads. I’ve tried four different large heads, and nothing ever hit the bar and scratched it.
But aside from having an already high showerhead, this is far from ideal if your shower area is a narrow stall as this extension’s curve would most likely require extra space.

Buyers Guide: How To Choose The Best Best Shower Head Extension
We’ve tried all 10 of the best shower head extension arms on the market, and here’s the verdict!
An expensive shower head extension arm doesn’t always mean that it’s high-quality, and a cheap one doesn’t mean it’s flimsy. In buying one, you have to get closer and deeper to its features and qualities.
Below are just some of the things that you’d want to look out for when buying a shower head extension arm.
1. Material
A good material for showerhead extension arms is one that’s durable and corrosion-resistant but, at the same time, lightweight.
One of the best examples of this is stainless steel. It’s not heavy, and yet, it’s rust-proof and quite strong, too.
If you like it more heavyweight, you can get a brass one, which is also very durable. Moreover, brass lasts long, and its texture also helps with your water flow.
As for the handheld showerheads…
…you don’t have to be put off by ABS plastic material because it’s made for household fixtures. That being said, it’s quite strong and can even withstand your water’s pressure.
2. Size and ceiling clearance
Before buying an extension arm, make sure to measure the space between your ceiling and the upper end of your showerhead first.
Most units would require you to twist the whole thing, so if there’s not enough clearance, you might end up getting stuck or scratching both of your ceiling and the shower fixture.
3. Installation
Now, this is a detail that some people seem to forget to check. Installation includes the type of mount of the extension you’re getting. Make sure that the extension’s thread is compatible with your existing shower pipe to avoid any issues upon installation.
4. Your showerhead
Some showerhead extensions aren’t just compatible with some showerhead types and sizes.
For example, you have a big square rain shower head with a size of 11 inches. An S-shaped extension with a narrow space on its curve might not work for it as the showerhead might hit the bar and scratch it.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a shower head be extended?
If your showerhead came with a short arm, you can extend it without breaking the bank by getting a good showerhead extension or extension arm. Some extensions don’t just extend the reach of your showerhead but let you angle it the way you want it, too.
What do I do if my shower head is too high?
If your showerhead is too high for you, get an extendable or adjustable showerhead extension or arm. Some of the extensions on this list can be raised or lowered anytime you want them to.
Why are shower heads so low?
Some apartments set a standard when it comes to the height of their showerheads. It also has something to do with water pressure most of the time. But if you’ve just moved into a place that’s already been occupied before, it may just be because most people feel safe installing their showerheads at eye level.
